Navy Children School, Visakhapatnam, is a child-centric, co-educational school built on a sprawling area amidst lush green trees having a natural, pollution-free atmosphere which is a crucial need in today's world. The school has been divided into two major branches (Nausena Baugh and SVN colony) functioning at different areas of Visakhapatnam.

Visual learning reinforces the concepts that are taught in the classroom. Keeping this in mind the school has equipped every classroom (BALVATIKA to Class XII) with 'Smart Boards' installed by Educomp. This also ensures simplifying of abstract concepts and enriching the minds of the students, thus making the classrooms more informative, educative and interactive.

Computer Labs

In the Information Technology era, individuals must have a combination of formal education and experience. The school aims at developing a multifaceted appreciation for technology and its role in the world stage so that our students may effectively succeed in the dynamic environment of this new century. The school houses five Computer Labs (2 labs in Secondary, 2 labs in Primary wing and 1 Lab in SVN colony Wing). Each of these labs is well-equipped with brand new PCs with online UPS support and is fully air conditioned. The Pupil PC ratio is maintained 1:1 to impart knowledge in the field of Information Technology.

Biology Labs

A hallmark of science is that it generates theories and laws that must be consistent with observations. Much of the evidence from these observations is collected during laboratory investigations. Our school Biology laboratory is defined as an experience in the laboratory, classroom, or the field that provides students with opportunities to interact directly with natural phenomena or with data collected by others using tools, materials, data collection techniques, and models. Throughout the process, students have opportunities to design investigations, engage in scientific reasoning, manipulate equipment, record data, analyze results, and discuss their findings.

Physics Lab

The purpose of establishing Physics lab is to draw potential of the pupil by exploring various natural phenomena in day to day life. Physics lab provides immense opportunities to learn by various experiments at their appropriate age level.

Chemistry Labs

Chemistry Lab is fully equipped with all the facilities to get exposure to various chemicals and to study their nature. It helps in verifying the theoretical concepts taught in the class room. In addition to this, every child gets scope to experiment and to explore the concepts beyond the class room.

Mathematics Labs

The lab is designed to inspire ignited minds to learn mathematical concepts. The children explore their knowledge to get results using manipulatives (mathematics kit). The lab is helpful not only for geometrical concepts but also Algebra, Number system etc., to improve lateral and critical thinking process.

Language Labs

Communication skills have become essential in today's world and with the introduction of the 'Assessment of Speaking and Listening' skills by CBSE board in the curriculum, the language laboratory has become inevitable. Keeping this in mind the school is introducing a language lab which will enable students to have good command of the language for communication purposes.

3-D Lab

The school auditorium has the facility of screening 3-D modules which further enhance the learning process.

The school has three well-equipped libraries and a healthy schedule for reading. A large number of reference material, fiction and non-fiction books, text books, magazines and publications are available to the students.

All classes are provided with library periods in the time-table. The school library is open to students on all school working days. The timings are as follows: Monday to Friday : 7.30 am to 3.00 pm Saturday : 7.30 am to 2.00 pm

Games And Sports play an important role in the overall personality development of children. Various sports activities help students remain fit. These activities also enable the students cope up with the day to day stressful situations and assist the obese students in shedding off the undesired pounds of flesh. Students develop a keen sense of sportsmanship, acquire the technical skills required to play various games.

There is provision for sports activities such that students of all age groups can enjoy, relax and exercise all at the same time. NCS Vizag trains its students in various indoor & outdoor games. Students can take part in any outdoor sport of their choice like athletics, soccer, basketball, handball, swimming, table-tennis etc. With expert coaches for each activity, NCS Vizag encourages its students to take their sport seriously and take part in competitions of diverse kinds.
Art & Craft encourages every individual to explore and develop their creative potential. It helps our students to unleash the inner budding artist in them - and better understand ART & CRAFT as a vocational subject and not a mere hobby. The school facilitates in learning drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery and fabric design that serves as a workout session for the imagination and creative prowess of our students. Music is an important component of the school education, the benefits of which have been largely documented. We have Music Room in different wings of our School catering to the interests of our students. The purpose of having Music Rooms is to provide the students with an understanding of the fundamentals of music and at the same time strengthening their bond with one of the finest forms of art. Exploring the various dimensions of music, whether performing a vocal, solo, rehearsing to tune, the strings or creating compositions is the main aim of the music teachers of our school. Our trained faculty of music are committed to give the students the tools they need to study and perform, as well as the confidence and inspiration to pursue whatever music they find inspiring ultimately making them calm, composed and in sync with their spiritual self. Music Rooms in NCS are well-equipped with various instruments like congo, harmonium, kettle drum, cymbals, tabla, flute, tambourine, key-board, bass drum etc. The aim is to stimulate pupils’ curiosity, maintain their interest and enjoy music. The school has a school band in all the three wings.

The School has a Naval NCC unit. Students can enroll themselves in the Junior Division (boys) or Senior Division (boys) and Senior Division/Wing (girls).

The following is the schedule for NCC parades:

  • Junior Division (VIII - IX) - After school working hours on Wednesday / Working Saturday.
  • Senior Division/Wing (XI & XII) - Sunday at INS Circars Parade ground from 0800 - 1200 hrs.

The buses plying to and fro from the School are centrally controlled by SBF (School Bus Fund) of INS Satvahana. MTO of INS Satvahana is the Officer Incharge. Any query regarding bus should be addressed to INS Satvahana. The School has two buses one at NSB the other at SVN colony. These buses are used to ferry Children to different places for various events.

Park

Learning by playing is the main objective of the play park. Creative and challenging play is essential to early childhood development. The school has various play equipment designed specifically for preschoolers and primary students to encourage physical and cognitive growth while providing hours of engaging and exploratory fun.

Science Park

Science Park is set up in the school premises to teach Science in a play way method. It includes 15 varieties of outdoor science gadgetsand in future more will be added. For instance 'Bell Tower', helps students in understanding how sound varies for different materials. By using 'Rotating Chair' students can experience changes in angular velocity etc.

Theme Park

Theme park is set up in NSB and DH Hill wings for awareness among children about the importance of fruits and vegetables and to know animals in their natural habitat.

Activity Room

Kindergarten Activity room is set up to gain knowledge through physical activities. Teachers teach various concepts by interactive activities. As the children grow up, these activities sow a seed of knowledge in their minds along with improving their latent skills.

Sandpit

The KG Wing has a sand pit activity that aims to promote interaction with peers & helps gross & fine motor development.

Traffic Park

KG Wing NSB has a traffic park to impart necessary training on road safety and to teach the young children traffic rules and regulations.

Outdoor Playing Equipment

Gross Motor Development is emphasized through mass P.T, aerobics and free play using Modern aids and outdoor play equipment.

School Broadcasting system

The school has a broadcasting system connected to all class rooms, staff rooms and labs. The system is very effective to monitor the proceeding in each room and transmit the information to all rooms at a time.

Stationery Shop is located at Secondary Wing (NSB) & SVN colony and their timings are as mentioned below:

CAFETERIA

Snacks are available during both the breaks in the cafeteria located at the school premises of the secondary section. The first break is at 09:50 am for 20 minutes and the second is at 12 noon for 10 minutes.

AUDITORIUM

School has one auditorium where all the interactive sessions with teachers, parents and students takes place such as workshops, seminars etc.

CONFERENCE HALL

School has one conference hall where all the the important meetings with management, counselling sessions with the parents, teachers etc takes place.

COUNSELLING ROOM

The school offers the services of counsellors to students as well as parents in all the three wings. Students can meet the counsellors on all working days.

FIRST AID

Immediate aid is provided to the students if the child gets hurt. As the school is located near the vicinity of INHS Kalyani, the injured children are taken to the hospital.

SECURITY OF CHILDREN

Security of the students is the utmost concern of the school. Teachers & Sub-staff are allocated with duties during break time, dispersals and through out the day. No outsiders are allowed to enter the school campus, neither the children can leave school without parent.
